Customized Solutions
Do you have an idea or problem, but do not have the required product yet? If you do, we will relentlessly investigate the problem until we have found the perfect plastic injection moulding solution for you. We demonstrated this recently, during our collaboration with Esperit Plant and Hillplant. Bato developed a custom-made hanging pot for both companies. The Aruba 17 hanging pot meets the required dimensions, cultivation-technical characteristics and functions very efficiently for both growers. Vincent, a product engineer at Bato, together with Jan van Geest, owner of Esperit Plant and Chris van den Heuvel, co-owner of Hillplant, tell us how long-term cooperation produces solid results for both parties.
From idea to product
With our level of knowledge and expertise, we can rapidly transform ideas into tangible results. From the first draft, 3D visualisations and prototyping right through to production, the entire process is handled at our injection moulding works in the Netherlands. We work closely with you to select materials, production methods, treatments, possible coatings and colours. We will be happy to take you through all the stages of our development process. You are welcome 'on board' at any time and at any stage.

Product specification
In the first phase, we will discuss things with you. What is the idea, challenge or problem? How can we translate your wishes and requirements into a product design? What materials should be used? And how about sizing and desired tolerances?

Design
At this stage we transform the idea we have elaborated together into a three-dimensional product design.

Prototyping
Once the three-dimensional product design meets all requirements, we always make a tangible plastic prototype, and we do this as soon as possible. It can be delivered within a few days. This plastic prototype is indispensable in the development process because it allows us to test all relevant functions right down to the finest detail.

Mould construction
Once we have determined that the plastic prototype meets all requirements, we will start designing the mould using CAM software. Here we determine factors such as the multiplicity and complexity of the mould, the injection method and whether the mould will be high-tech or simple.

Frequently asked questions about Custom Horticultural products
Depending on the decision speed of the client, the complexity of the product/mould, and the choice of mould maker, it is on average 3 to 6 months.
We start by discussing the product specifications, i.e. the wishes and requirements for development of the plastic horticultural product. We then process this in a preliminary, sketch design. We always go through everything in detail with our partners to ensure that the product is meets all requirements. Once that is clear, we make a tangible plastic prototype early in the process. This tangible plastic prototype is indispensable in the development process because it allows us to test all the relevant functions right down to the finest detail, and to do this in collaboration with the grower. If the prototype meets all requirements, we will start the mould construction. And production follows when it is ready.
Bato's product engineer creates a product drawing, which is then reviewed in detail. Once we are sure that the product design drawing meets all the ideas, wishes and requirements, we create a plastic prototype. As our customer, you can then test it down to the finest detail. And we will only start the full production run when the product meets all your expectations.
No, Bato does not make any moulds. We use three specialized mould makers in China, Portugal and the Netherlands. Depending on the complexity and delivery time, the best option will be chosen in consultation with you, our customer. Bato guides and supervises this process.
Mould costs depend on product specifications combined with the multiplicity of moulds, and our partner's requirements and wishes . We always discuss the best possibilities and work with you to make a suitable choice together.
That's why you are in safe hands when you come to collaborate with Bato to develop your custom products.

Over thirty years of expertise
Bato has been much more than just another injection moulding company or supplier of plastic products. We are pioneers in our field and proud of our achievements.
Custom Horticultural Products
In addition to our standard and very extensive range of horticultural products, we notice that demand for custom made plastic horticultural products is growing. Bato has a proven track record in reliability, quality and a high-level service in the worldwide horticultural sector. As a result, we are increasingly approached as a partner for development of customer-specific products or to further develop and improve an existing plastic horticultural product. Both options are becoming increasingly important for very many growers, because they are constantly optimizing their cultivation, yield and product presentation. Our Research & Development department works in a transparent and result-oriented way. They are often doing this in collaboration with dealers and other growers, but are also taking their own initiatives to develop new products or refine existing ones. Whatever the case may be, Bato is always the right partner when it comes to your plastic injection moulding needs.
Plastic injection moulding at Bato
What does it actually entail? Injection moulding is a production method for creating plastic products. This production method re-forms the plastic into a desired shape with very precise dimensions. Injection moulding produces finished products require little or no finishing. The diversity of plastics and plastic items with which we use injection moulding is extensive. We offer our partners several ways to promote their sustainability. Over 95% of our materials have already had a previous life and have been recycled. And 100% of the materials in the products we supply can, in turn, be recycled later into granules. This closes the resource loop. And nowadays we can say confidently that we are specialized in injection moulding of 100% bio-based and fully biodegradable materials. Under the right conditions, some of our products are even compostable. This distinguishes us from our competitors, because these products are also officially certified.
